Continuing education

24 hours per three-year period

Active Residential Wireman, Journeyman Electrician, and Master Electrician licensees must complete at least 24 hours of continuing education during each three-year license period.

  • At least 4 hours must cover National Electrical Code (NEC) Changes.
  • No more than 4 hours may be completed in the safety competency.
  • If a licensee holds multiple licenses issued by the Board, completing continuing education for the most advanced license satisfies the requirements for lesser licenses.
  • A licensee initially licensed by examination during the current license period is exempt from continuing education until after the first renewal.
  • Courses count only when the provider or vendor has attested to the Board that its courses and instructors meet Board Rule requirements.
